Annie Street Renovation - Auchenflower
Located in the leafy Brisbane suburb of Auchenflower, this Annie Street renovation transforms a modest Queenslander into a flexible, light-filled family home. Working within the home’s original footprint, Invilla reimagined the layout to preserve its charm while adding flow, function, and space to grow.
Originally a two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage, the home has been expanded into a five-bedroom, three-bathroom residence. It now includes two living areas and two dedicated studies — offering flexibility for working from home, entertaining guests, and creating quiet spaces for family members of all ages. The new layout is designed to support everyday living while adapting to changing needs over time.
A key design focus was to keep the soul of the home intact. The original brick fireplace was carefully restored and now sits at the heart of the main living space, adding warmth and texture. Around it, updated finishes and thoughtfully chosen materials bring comfort, while still honouring the home’s heritage character.
Natural light was central to the redesign. Large windows and sliding glass doors draw light deep into the home, creating a bright and welcoming interior. At the rear, the kitchen and dining areas connect directly to a generous alfresco and swimming pool — encouraging indoor–outdoor living that suits Brisbane’s subtropical lifestyle.
Upstairs, the private zones offer calm and retreat. Bedrooms are tucked away from the main living spaces to provide peace and privacy. Smart storage solutions, considered zoning, and thoughtful lighting make the home easy to navigate, even on busy days.
Throughout, the finishes palette reflects Invilla’s signature approach — soft, natural tones, warm timber flooring, and durable, high-quality materials that age gracefully. These choices aren’t just about style; they’re about creating a home that feels calm, lived-in, and ready for whatever comes next.
This Annie Street renovation shows how thoughtful design can add more than just square metres. It brings lasting value through improved liveability, better use of space, and a deep sense of connection. It’s a project where old and new come together seamlessly — resulting in a home that feels honest, elevated, and made to last.
