A post-war suburb at a turning point

Most of Holland Park was built in the two decades after the war, timber and brick homes on solid elevated blocks along the ridges south of Camp Hill. Very little of it carries character protection, which gives owners here a freedom the pre-war suburbs closer to the river do not have: you can renovate, extend or replace, and the right answer is a genuine choice rather than a rule. The suburb is quietly turning over, street by street, as those post-war houses reach the end of their serviceable lives.

The terrain does the rest of the talking. Blocks fall away to catch city and mountain outlooks, the busway at Holland Park West and the M3 put the city within easy reach, and the elevation keeps flood risk off the table for almost the entire suburb. Otway, Murton and Glindermann

Otway House is a ground-up custom home and one of the projects we are asked about most. Murton House is a renovation that went on to feature on Channel 9's Australia's Best House.
